I’ll break it down date-by-date and class-by-class so you can easily figure out the best time for you to take the test. Fall 2015 October 3rd, 2015 Freshmen and Sophomores It’s probably not worth it for you to take the test on this date, especially because the new SAT comes out in 2016, and taking this SAT is only going to provide partially relevant practice. Juniors We recommend that you take the SAT for the first time your junior fall, and this is the ideal date to do it. This date is also the first one after the summer, so it’s a good time to take the test and see whether your summer studying has paid off. Seniors This is an ideal date for seniors as well, especially if you’re applying early decision to colleges. Also, you’ll find out your results on October 22nd, which gives you enough time to study for the test date in December if you’re still unsatisfied and are applying regular decision. Question and Answer Service or Student Answer Service? QAS If you don’t know what these are, they're services the College Board offers for you to review your scores on the SAT more thoroughly (read more about them here). Some test dates offer the QAS and some offer the SAS. The QAS is more in-depth, so I will list which service is offered for each date in case some of you want to pick a date that allows you to order the QAS. November 7th, 2015 Freshmen and Sophomores Don’t take the test on this date. You’ll be taking the new SAT in 2016, and the old SAT will only provide partially relevant practice. Juniors This is one of your last chances to take the old SAT, so it’s a good date for you.You will still have the January test date to take the old SAT again if you don’t do well (you’re not going to have much time to react in between getting your scores back and the December test date). Seniors On the whole, you shouldn’t bother with this test date. You won’t get your scores for November back in time to study much for the December test, so you should just wait and take that one. You might take the November SAT as a senior if you’re really intent on getting better scores on different sections for superscoring, and you’re going to take the December test regardless of your November scores (great!).You might also take it if you didn’t take the SAT in October and are applying Early Decision to colleges.November test scores are the latest scores that most schools accept from Early Decision applicants. Question and Answer Service or Student Answer Service? SAS December 5th, 2015 Freshmen and Sophomores Again, you probably don’t want to take the test on this date because it’s still going to be the old SAT. Juniors You might be better off waiting for the January test date so you’ll have more time to study in between taking the SAT for the first time in the fall and your next attempt. The January test date is still offering the old SAT. Seniors This is a prime test date for seniors. It's probably your last chance to take the SAT and submit your scores to colleges. Many schools (including Stanford) don’t accept scores from test dates later than December. Question and Answer Service or Student Answer Service? SAS This is the perfect time to coerce your friends and family into bringing you lots of cookies because you're studying so hard. Winter and Spring 2016 January 23rd, 2016 Freshmen and Sophomores It’s still going to be the old SAT, so the advice for the dates before this stands. Your time will come, young ones. Juniors This is your last chance to take the old SAT, so it’s a good date for you!It will also be after your holiday break, so you will have had a nice chunk of time to devote to studying. Strategic Business Leadership Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Strategic Business Leadership - Essay Example This paper chronicles the formulation and development of my views on the subject of the strategic business leadership. Stages in learning Strategic Business Leadership Throughout my academic and professional career, I have experienced numerous touch points and theories which have helped me shape my perspectives and broaden my horizons on the subject of strategic business leadership. On a fundamental level, during the learning of this course, I have visualized myself as a leader who is lucid and depicts a practical view of an inspirational future which motivates others to join in too. Since, I have struggled hard to formulate my thinking and perspectives on the basis of leading capabilities, my vision of becoming a strategic leader has influenced me in shaping up my focus. After studying the subject on leadership, I have begun to see the concept of leadership as a process which is dynamically distributed amongst the actors. Besides this, some fundamental principles have been formed in my minds which have transformed my beliefs about leadership from a mere activity and role to an entire process of goal achievement by inspiring others. More often, I have discovered that additional learning of this subject has facilitated me with the supplementing of the theorizing process which is consistent with the methodology of grounded theory. During the learning, there have been the climax points which have shaped my perspectives on becoming a future leader. I recall studying the charismatic traits of a transformational leader and getting the work done through others, and this has already aroused great determination and enthusiasm in me. The theories of leadership have actually facilitated me with various ways in which one can act and influence the people to make them work. My understanding of the Subject Since, I am largely used to additional readings in order to reference my current learning, I read various authors on the subject of leadership and strategies related to it. Amongst those, my favorite is Sun Tzu in the Art of War. According to him, â€Å"The way [of leadership] means inducing the people to have the same aim as the leadership, so that they will share death and share life, without fear of danger† (Sun Tzu, 2005, p.43). I interpreted from this statement, that for Sun Tzu, the idea behind leadership was such relationships, strategies, and the dynamism which assists in aligning a vision which is shared by the people and might also demand those aligned to act in such a way which may go beyond their personal self interest. The definition provided in the book also realizes the mutual vibrancy that the followers and leader share in understanding the mutual vision and goal. Both have equal participation and thus, equal share in the risks and benefits in its pursuit. Thus, in my view, strategic business leadership is the management of people with a view which corresponds with providing a direction to the followers which is exactly aligned to the organizational goals and objectives. Simply put, leadership, according to my learning, is largely about exercising authority in such a way which supports other fellows to follow the mutual goals and obtain desired results. I think that leadership is generally about three factors which include problems and solution,

32 Short Films About Glenn Gould Movie Review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

32 Short Films About Glenn Gould - Movie Review Example He travelled and played music in front of the audience till the age of 31 and after that he took retirement. His last performance was in Los Angelesin April 1964.After that he took to recording, broadcasting and writing. It is widely known that he preferred playing his own piano and he once commented, â€Å"it is the best vehicle to express my ideas.† He has acclaimed various awards in his life and the movie made in his honor, i.e. 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould had 8 nominations and 3 wins. He died of a stroke on October 4, 1982, and was laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada(Janet). The mere idea of eccentricity is overrun in this movie as Gould was notoriously famous for not showing up on public performances. It is also said that his last performance at the stage was held when he was 31 years of age and more surprisingly, this event was held without disclosing the fact that this is going to be the last stage performance by him. It is not hard to imagine the reason why he disliked this idea and why he ventured into recording and broadcasting(Janet). The obvious reason for not showing up in public anymore is given in this movie and it says that he did not like the idea that some people had better seats and hence they could have a better view than the rest. This leads to the conclusion, that only some of the people could enjoy, while the rest enjoyed because they had paid for it. In the movie 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould, the director, Francois Girard, has broken a tradition of making movies on celebrities(Janet). Previously, such films were made as fiction and certain events were added to make it appear the film to be realistic. However, this film involves each detail that actually happened and much effort has been divested to arrange concerts, costumes, Gould’s all important family members and his tutor’s appearance; all have been noted down with extreme dexterity. In short, this movie can act as a true biography of the life of Glenn Gould. Gould had a habit of wetting his hands in warm water before performing and it has been noted that doing this gave him more confidence and comfort while playing piano. Adding to the eccentricities, he is seldom portrayed as wearing a coat even in blistering summers and that later came to be known as his signature appearance. Among his other eccentricities, he developed a habit of talking to his friends and family over a long period of time on the telephone while he seldom had a one to one conversation with them. Though, he had quit live performances, he still travelled a lot and composed music in various lodges and hotels. In fact he is one of the few pianists who have left behind a legacy of hundreds of recordings of his music. From the above two examples from his daily life, we come to know that he was an introvert yet an entertainer. Though, he refrained from company, as he withdrew from public audience and then his friends too, yet he found o ut a way to entertain people through his music. His fame was such that his performance of the Bach’s Goldberg Variations has left board on Voyager One on the solar system. Through these examples, we as audience see that Gould was a man of talent and someone who was so passionate about his music that he composed till he died(Janet). The character of Glenn Gould has been taken up by Colm Feore. Throughout the movie he is portrayed as a man in various stages of his life, from the very beginning till the very end. The pianist is shown as a calm and a poised man who is intent upon hearing upon each and every single voice uttered. There are various scenes in the movie which show that Gould is sitting in a

CASE SCENARIO - Essay Example But there is no evidence of any spill. Situation Analysis And Solution: Let’s us assume that the production employee does not know how to identify the material, as the Hazard Communication Standard requires that all chemicals be appropriately labeled. â€Å"Under the provisions of the Hazard Communication Standard, employers are responsible for informing employees of the hazards and the identities of workplace chemicals to which they are exposed†, says OSHA in its information booklet. The emergency response team and the plant manager have already been informed about the incident. Entry to the area restricted except for those involved in the clean up operations. The first step to entering the area of incident involves wearing protective gears such Positive Pressure Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, gloves and shoe covers by the team coordinators. A quick survey of the area is done and it declared as restricted area.Next is to identify the material that is spilled by identifying the label. Identifying the s pill is half work done, as this is will tell what procedure it needs to undertake to limit the hazardous situation. The HazMat Team is then given relevant spill response instructions. The following will be the action list they would follow: The team members also needed to be appropriately protected with the personal protective clothing and equipment. Restrict entry of any unauthorized individuals. As the spillage is from a 55 gallon drum, two or three team members will take care of transferring the contents into a larger drum as soon as possible. Two or three of the members work on limiting the spill from spreading further. A part of the hazard management team involves in relocating the other hazardous chemical containers to safer areas. As fumes are being produced, let us assume that the chemical that spilt was a strong acid. The next step is use

Site visit and inspection carry out at recently completed projects, similar to this project in order to get proper analysis to minimize the possible design risks. Separate design department such as Architectural, MEP, and Civil Works need set-up to reduce design errors and to minimize the time. At the Construction Stage Supply Ready-mix concrete from nearest place for control project time and cost overrun. Use slip-forming method for special constructions, swimming pool and water tank tower. Project duration can be controlled using pre-cast concrete slabs for car park basement floors, walls etc. Use of eco bricks for structural walls boundary walls. Also cement, soils stabilizer can be used for wall plastering. Programming, scheduling and controlling Pre-Contract Stage Planning to start tendering process carry out prior to finish all the required designs. Project Specifications and requirements to be submitted at early stage to the specialized contractors. Soil investigation reports need to be handed over to the design consultant at the planning stage. Tenders should call for Pilling contractors once completing the design of pilling. Planning to carry out Site preparation works by others (Demolitions, filling and cutting, removing vegetation soil etc.) Required temporary facilities need put-up at project site. Take necessary action for site security by fencing, lighting etc. and also putting up security post as required. Post-Contract Stage Prepare the construction programme as per the construction works sequence. Actual performance to be achieved being reviewed weekly and monthly. Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights

Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights Through chapters 4 to 7 in Emily Bronte's, Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff and Catherine's characters are developed, from when they are children and inseparable to when they are adults and have to live with the pain and anguish of living separate lives where they cannot be together. The love they share is one of great passion, that is both unexplainable and all time and energy consuming for both.Heathcliff is introduced to the Earnshaw household and the plot as a young orpahn boy plucked off the streets by Mr. Earnshaw on his way home from Liverpool. Heathcliff is immediately abhorred by his new family. He is referred as an "it" or "thing" by Nelly and as the "imp of satan", by the rest of the family. The name Heathcliff, was the name of a previous son of the family that had died at a young age. Heathcliff never really became a true member of the Earnshaw family , because he was not given the family name.Wuthering Heights (song)Their love of freedom, and unrestricted passion for each o ther are depicted through the wildness of the Moors, their naturalness, and their unlimited sweep. Hasbro in Brazil Essays

Hasbro in Brazil Essays Hasbro in Brazil Essay Hasbro in Brazil Essay With 41. 9% of Hasbro sales revenue being generated internationally, it is essential that they work to maintain positive relationships with countries throughout the world. The international arena is becoming increasingly important to their revenues. Brazil is one of several international markets that Hasbro has expanded into over the last 5 – 10 years. Not only are they shipping products to Brazil, but in around 2007 they also opened an office in Brazil. Even with this being the case, Brazil has taken governmental measures to promote and strengthen the national traditional toys and games industry and stimulate further local production. In 2010, Brazil approved the reduction of import taxes from 20% to 2% on components to produce traditional toys and games such as electronic mechanisms and later the government increased import taxes on manufactured products from 20% to 35% to inhibit further imports, mainly from China (Toys and Games in Brazil, 2011). In a bid to remain competitive and increase market share, seven large domestic companies considered the possibility of merging to form the largest toys and game manufacturer in Brazil. While the project is still under consideration despite the challenges involved merging seven companies, three other companies, Baby Brink, Rosita and Acalanto, merged in April 2010 to create the group BBRA† (Toys and Games in Brazil, 2011). With measures such as these in place, it causes a disfavor t o companies such as Hasbro. : It requires them has to work twice as hard to gain acceptance in a country that is promoting growth for their national companies. Hasbro identified one opportunity for the locals of Brazil to view them in a light other than one of an â€Å"outsider. † In 2011, Hasbro partnered with Operation Smile Create Smiles to provide free medical treatment and toys and games for children born with cleft palate. â€Å"The medical mission in Brazil was made possible because of Hasbro. Our patients and families in Brazil are incredibly warm and vibrant, and yet the laughter and smiles of these children were hidden behind their clefts. Today, their futures are full of hope and opportunity, and they will always remember that Hasbro helped make that happen†, said Dr. Bill Magee, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Operation Smile (Kraft, Jessica, 2011). By taking steps to increase their social responsibility in Brazil, Hasbro is promoting themselves in a way that will allow them to gain an increased acceptance rating and hopefully, not only make 100 children’s smiles brighter but also their bottom line.

Analysis of The Choice by the Russell Roberts Essay

Analysis of The Choice by the Russell Roberts - Essay Example Writer convincingly put forward important arguments in favor of free trade and how it can actually increase the economic prosperity. What is, however, also critical to note that the author has practically failed to realize as to how protectionism can actually provide necessary benefits to an economy. The example of China is one of the critical examples of how the selective protectionism can play an instrumental role in the development of the country and writer has probably failed to envisage a future where different variations of the protectionism can actually increase economic freedom and contribute towards the growth. As such the advocacy of the free trade by the author is actually an advocacy of the American dream and not a more practical presentation of economic theory and logic and how protectionism can too contribute towards the development of a nation regardless of the fact whether the country is actively involved in the free trade or  not.

Drug Education Programs – the goal of drug educational programs such as D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is to educate youngsters about the dangers of illegal drug use before they will even start and be swayed by its temptations (Brogan & Koellhoffer 9). A logic behind the program is to involve police officers in giving their time and expertise to help schools conduct drug-education programs. The approach is to use police officers who are into the fight against drug-related crimes that gives them much-needed street credibility in the eyes of the kids, as opposed to â€Å"tough guy† persona exemplified by thugs, pimps and drug pushers. A drug prevention program, meanwhile, focuses more on counteracting the social influences that can lead to drug use; such as peer pressure, ostracism and school bullying (Segal 125).
